2019 kicked off with a great start to the year for AVIE and within a blink of an eye and we are already in the middle of May! There have been some key milestones achieved and we are thrilled about the year we have ahead of us.
Below we share our incredible highlights from recent months at AVIE.
February took us down to The Saatchi Gallery, Chelsea to showcase our debut collection to key industry buyers at the SCOOP International, a trade fair for high end luxury brands. A distinguished artistic environment to present the collections alongside established brands. It was a true litmus test on how our designs would translate as an emerging luxury label with the ethos of ‘slow fashion’ alongside established brands.
Within the first day, we met a Grace Whelan from Drapers, who said hello with warmth and enthusiasm. She listed AVIE as one of Drapers Brands picks of 2019. We were delighted to be selected and feature in their article and an honour to be sought out amongst the many labels and equally exciting!
Securing our first stockists and developing strong relationships with fellow brand owners was insightful over the following days.
The feedback received and compliments on our pieces was incredible. A truly unforgettable experience that we will treasure and strengthen for future collections. This laid the groundwork for our next collection but more on this later on this year!
SCOOP concluded with an beautiful talk with Gary James McQueen, presenting his intricate print collection, inspiration and journey into fashion & textiles. Followed by a homage to his Uncle Alexander ‘Lee’ McQueen and influence on his work.
One of the stockists searching SCOOP International for new, exciting brands was Carol Bradbury, owner of The Mews (previously owner of the iconic ROOM 7), based in Roundhay, Leeds. She loved our interpretation of modern minimalistic design with an elevated edge in our collection pieces. Carol instantly fell in love with The Biker 1.0 leather jacket, a best-seller item and a favourite in her own wardrobe. We can expect to hear more from Carol in one of our future blogs, delving into her own personal journey in fashion.
Already into March and the we were organising our photoshoot in York. The stunning ‘De Grey Rooms’ was used as part of shoot, a newly renovated space that was perfect backdrop to contrast our AW19 collection. There is nothing better than giving ourselves the challenge of shooting on location (and a busy crowded street).
The creative team provided a wealth of knowledge and expertise to enable us to create a fantastic lookbook; and debuting our three models. Alina, Charlie & Alice, assistant stylist Natalie Ford and assistant photographer Liam Blake. All exuded confidence and took the shootshoot in their stride and flawless in their professionalism. Despite the terrible cold weather we all huddled for warmth in between shots.
This was all backed up with the experienced and trusted hands of Sonia Schofield, our lead HMUA for AVIE shoot. She ensured the models looked modern, fresh yet flawless with impeccable hair and make-up interpretation of the AVIE woman. The looks were finished off with jewellery from My Golden Cage – an Italian luxury jewellery studio based in Milan.
A dear friend of AVIE’s Creative Director Sonya who saw our collection and immediately wanted to accessorise with her statement pieces that amplified our looks.
